Rob Baker earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a Biomedical Instrumentation emphasis from Purdue University. He served as a United States Navy E-2C Hawkeye carrier pilot before transitioning to the private sector, where he worked at Dow Chemical and later earned his teaching degree from Saginaw Valley State University. He now teaches physics, calculus and engineering courses at Frankenmuth High School, including drone aviation and robotics.
